about

George Benson wrote this song for Donny Hathaway in Donny's living room back in 1969. It was never recorded, never released. George gifted me with the song to record for myself.

lyrics

Though her clothes are not the latest style and her hair seems a little wild.
But on her face she shows her grace all dressed up with a smile.
Ohhhh she never cared for caviar, and her education didn’t take her far.
But she’s got a smile a country, country mile and it shines just like the morning star.
She never changed her ways.
She’s still the same today with a weary heart and her dreams blown apart all the while she aims to please.
The brown in her hair has turned to gray.
She only words of wisdom to say.
But on her face there could be no mistakes cause she wear smile
for the whole human race.
